Proof #1: Latvian squirrels make candy. Or maybe, the candy tastes like Latvian squirrels? I’m not sure–but look at how awesome his ears are.
Proof #2: Black squirrels are the ninjas of the mammalian world. They are practically unphotographable.
Proof #3: Squirrels can fit two entire hedge apples in their mouths. When they do this, and then climb up your window, they will look startlingly like an iguana. This will cause you to nearly crap your pants, especially if you live in Wisconsin. There is no good reason for an iguana to be in Wisconsin.

The two hedge apples become the terrifying googly iguana eyes. The butt would be your normal squirrel butt.
The effect requires not seeing the part pictured here–where the squirrel is adjusting his apples. They sometimes just leapt on to the screen with the apples already in place.

Yes, the iguana squirrel was documented. Technically, this is a picture of squirrel pulling the same trick on a different day. I was way too freaked out to take a picture of the day of the original “igunana squirrel.”
1. This is not candy. This is a Torte! It’s wafers interlayed with chocolate and crushed hazelnuts. Even though it is not candy, it is still INCREDIBLY good! You cut it up into small squares, and it gets gobled up by company before you have time to blink.
