Comic Con 2009

31 05 2008

I’ve decided, somewhat suddenly, that I want to go to Comic Con in 2009. I’m going to attempt to do this as far ahead as possible (limited of course by hotel and plane booking dates).

Anyone else interested? If there was a group of us, we could possibly try and cut down on costs with room sharing. I’d need a fairly early commitment, though.

Holy schmoly are you planning ahead! Hmmm…I wonder if I might be able to run away from children then to enjoy some of the festivities…must think on this. You in this for some sort of Lost-fest at the con?

Andy says “Leave the babies at home and come be a nerd with us” in a sing-song voice. Although, they might be kid friendly–A. was just telling me that his friends take their whole brood to gaming conventions.

Well, right now everybody’s trying to get things together for this year’s Comic Con–and it gets expensive and impossible if you wait. I think hotel rooms are the big issue, really. So, if I booked several rooms then people could take care of plane tickets, etc once they were sure they could manage it. Right now, I’ve got interest from at least one other friend so that makes four w/ Andy. I’m hoping more people will mull it over and decide to go for it. I figure even if I over book hotel rooms, or someone backs out–people get desperate enough that I should be able to unload it on someone.

And yes, it will be the last Comic Con before the Lost finale–and they always do something each year at Comic Con. Last year they debut this snippet of something that was part of this year’s finale.

But, most of the time will be devoted to general geekery of all sorts.

This is the HUGE one in San Diego, Comic Con International–July 23-26, 2009.

Tickets are $75 for 4 days, or in the $25 range per day. And then we could split hotel costs to keep that down–possible stay farther out and shuttle in if we needed to.

Well, the only semi-enforced group activity is the opportunity to share rooms.

I’ve never been to San Diego before. Supposed to have one of the best zoos, though.

also a room will be your biggest problem.

try west 500–cheap but small rooms and shared bath…but great place and clean
