Your very own energy-conscious polar bear tamagotchi

9 07 2008

I was visiting my family last week and my sister forced me to take back the now dead Tamagotchi I once had in college. Anyway, National Grid Floe provides you with an electronic pet doesn’t use batteries (other than the server batteries, and your computer’s batteries…whatev…) that you take care of by answering questions on how to save energy:

Get educated through cuteness.

Coming soon to a computer near you!! This makes me so happy and squeally with delight I might finally take the dive into becoming a fangirl (?!) What kind of fangirl, who knows. There are so many elements in this trailer to squeal about.

I can’t get this song out of my head. I’m giving it to you now, so that I may be free of it.

First, the teaser from the slick HBO show:

Then this is the whole song–just less produced:

Photo Phun

9 06 2008

My friend found this photo last week, and I’ve been giggling about it since then. See Lost fans have a tendancy to obsess over screen captures like this one–looking for tiny details that might give us a clue. So sometimes we may miss the *ahem* bigger picture. Hundred of people viewed this screen-capture and probably noticed nothing out of the ordinary.

Click on the smaller screencap for an upclose view of an unfortunate prop-related optical illusion:

I’ll never think about Batmanuel (aka Nestor Carbonell) the same way again.

Spellcheck

3 06 2008

So, apparently this high school in Pennsylvania ran their yearbook through a spell-checking program and it mangled a bunch of student’s names.

My question for you: what does spellcheck turn your name into? (Link takes you to an online spellcheck). Bonus points if you can tell me how you’ll use your new alter ego. If your name won’t work, you can always try someone else’s.

My name becomes: Julie Nemesis.

I think that  “Julie Nemesis” will be an excellent pseudonym for when I graduate from the Benjamin Linus internship program and start my own evil genius freelance work. (On a side note, Benjamin Linus becomes “Benjamin Lineups”–which sounds like some sort of evil genius play-thing for children.)

Comic Con 2009

31 05 2008

I’ve decided, somewhat suddenly, that I want to go to Comic Con in 2009. I’m going to attempt to do this as far ahead as possible (limited of course by hotel and plane booking dates).

Anyone else interested? If there was a group of us, we could possibly try and cut down on costs with room sharing. I’d need a fairly early commitment, though.
