Sorry America, I’ve been incognito for awhiles.  Here’s what I hope will become a regular feature: a weekly wacky news round-up!  Also known as a compendium of the oddly oddest odd news stories I’ve come across this week (and I come across a lot in my job):

Extreme high-wire walking world championship continues this weekend.  Here’s a taste from an earlier championship.

Borat crashed a fashion show for his next movie.  I thought his outfit fit in well with some other things I’ve seen on the catwalk.

Liza Minelli strutted and lip-synced in front of the Trevi Fountain in Rome.  Ok…

And the hamburger competitive-eating prize went to…a very nauseous looking dude.

That’s all I remember right now.  Maybe I’ll remember the rest when they haunt my dreams tonight.

Horror Hosts

Drafting this post for my other blog, I was reminded of the existence of the local horror host of my childhood: Count Gore De Vol. Did you guys have a local horror host growing up? There’s a handy list here on Wikipedia if your memory needs to be refreshed. And Elvira doesn’t count, unless you grew up in L.A. We’re talking about local and low budget, here.

In the meantime, check out this video of the Count showing you his digs. It is worth watching through the first minute and a half of silence in order to hear his strange accent.
